The pink stuff

Yup, Molly has 10 days of amoxicillin, twice a day. Yum, yum!

The first night was a nightmare and we literally had to pin her down and squirt it in the back of the throat. And then to get her to swallow it I had to squeeze her cheeks together, like a fishy face. It was quite traumatizing. She has been a big girl ever since and takes her pink medicine without a fuss...as long as her doggy, Pepper, helps.
Why all the trouble? Because Molly has ear infections in both ears, and puss on one of her tonsils! How'd that happen? Sure, she had a slight cough, nothing I was too worried about, I was just keeping her at home until it was gone. Well Monday night (in the middle of the night, as always) she woke up and cried and cried and held one ear. Then she started throwing up. So I figured it was bad enough to haul her to the doctor. As we were leaving she said to me, "Mommy, I don't want a flu shot" and I confidently assured her that she would get no shot. Oops, Mommy was wrong. Because her ears were so bad and she had been throwing up, they gave her the first round of meds in the form of two shots.

I am now happy to report that she seems to be back to her happy, normal self, although I am still making her stay inside...but we've been playing with the surprise Daddy brought home from work last night. She now thinks that she is a ballerina...

Mama called the doctor...

...and what did the doctor say?

Looks like Molly's going to be a big sister.
She seems to be pretty excited about it, although we're sure she has no idea what's coming!

The doctor also says it's a little boy, arriving sometime around July 2nd.

Justin and I are excited beyond words.

Now for the difficult task of coming up with boy names. Help would be appreciated!

Beating the Winter Blues

I love the snow. It's true, I really do. I enjoy living in a place that has 4 seasons. I think I would get bored living where it was sunny every single day of the year. Now having said that, I do admit that it can get hard being cooped up all day and not being able to go outside and enjoy some fresh air. So here are a few of the things that Molly and I do to "beat the winter blues."

1. The Library
The library is great-Molly loves going there and so do I! I love to read and I love to be surrounded by books. Yes, I would rather buy myself books than clothes. So to me, the library is always an enjoyable trip. At the library, we put on puppet shows and read all the books that we want.
We also attend the storytime they have for kids once or twice a week (our library offers it Monday-Thursday!). Usually they read 3 or 4 books, sing songs, and have a coloring page to take home. Molly is shy so she is afraid to get off my lap, but she always says that she loves it. So we continue to go.

Before we leave we make sure we get a stack of books and maybe a movie to keep us entertained at home.

2. Barnes and Noble
Again, another place filled with books, so I am happy. :) This may seem like a weird place to go but it's fun for Molly as well. There's a little train that she enjoys playing with as well as...Storytime! Yes, that's right, another storytime. But this one always involves a fun craft and a treat at the end. Today it was a cupcake, which was a special treat for Valentine's Day.

3. The Mall
Molly can play in the Dino-land park area (an indoor playground equipped with slides and other fun things for toddlers), play in the cars (I never put money in them and she seems happy!), or look at the water (which she finds fascinating). Last week, she came over to me at the fountain and said in a whisper, "Mom, there is poop in the water." She now knows that it's money!

4. Play at home!
There are those days that we don't get anywhere, and being the home-body that I am, that's okay with me. I don't feel like I have to go somewhere everyday, and so on those days that we stay home, we just play. Molly loves to have tea parties; we do this probably everyday. We dress-up her ponies, build towers with her blocks, read the stack of books we brought home from the library, and color, to name a few. We've even been indoor bowling. When Daddy was home last Saturday we had a movie party and watched the movie Molly picked out from the library. We ended up all falling asleep but that was okay!
So what does everyone else do for fun? We are always up for trying new things!
